1. Disappointment in Islamic Perspective
2. How to Change Disappointment with Gratitude
Unrealistic expectations, fruitless efforts, or hurtful
behavior from others can hurt the heart. However,
Islam teaches that disappointment is not the end of
everything. With gratitude, we can turn pain into
peace, loss into lessons, and wounds into strength.
(HR. Muslim)
Sometimes, we are disappointed because something we want is not achieved. However,
Allah knows what is best for us.
(QS. Al-Baqarah: 155)
Every human being must experience tests. Allah says:
The Path to Peace of Mind
a. Realizing that God's Plan is Better
“And indeed We will give you trials, with a little fear, hunger, lack of
wealth, souls and fruits. And give good news to those who are
patient.”
"It may be that you hate something, even though it is very good
for you, and it may be (also) that you like something, even
though it is very bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know."
However, those who are patient and grateful will receive goodness from Allah.
This verse shows that disappointments and trials are part of life's journey.
(QS. Al-Baqarah: 216)
Disappointment is a part of life.
“How amazing is the case of a believer! Indeed, all his affairs are good,
and that is not owned except by those who believe. If he finds
happiness, he is grateful, then that is good for him. If a disaster strikes
him, he is patient, so that is good for him."

c. Turning Disappointment Into a Lesson
Affirmation: "I am grateful for every blessing that Allah
has given me, big or small."
Affirmation: "I am not failing, I am learning and getting stronger."
Every disappointment teaches you something. Instead of wallowing in sadness, use this
moment to learn and grow.
“The best people are those who are most
beneficial to other people.”
“And if you were to count the blessings of Allah,
never would you be able to number them.”
(QS. Ibrahim: 34)
Often times we forget that behind one disappointment, there are many other blessings that we still have.
Affirmation: "I believe that God always gives the best for me,
even if I don't understand it now."
(HR. Ahmad)
Affirmation: "I choose to spread kindness, because it
brings peace to my heart."
Motivation: "Today I choose to be grateful, because I
believe that everything that happens brings me closer
to true happiness."
Helping others is the best way to forget disappointment and fill your heart with
All disappointments are part of life, but we have the choice to stay down or rise with
gratitude. By realizing that God has the best plan, appreciating the blessings that exist,
learning from every incident, and sharing kindness, we can turn disappointment into peace.
happiness.
